News Anchor Breaks Down While Reporting On This Haunting Photo Of A 5-Year-Old Bombing Victim
“This is Omran. He’s alive. We wanted you to know.”
In the following clip, CNN anchor Kate Bolduan tears up while reporting on a heartbreaking photo from Aleppo, Syria.
The image and footage of a little boy named Omran Daqneesh is going massively viral. It’s a haunting and disturbing representation of the current war in Syria. In the photo, Omran is covered in blood and dust, wearing a Nickelodeon T-shirt and silently waiting for medical attention. The image was captured after his home was destroyed by an airstrike on August 16, 2016.
Omran lived in the Syrian city of Aleppo with his mother, father, brother and sister. Miraculously, everyone in his immediate family survived the bombing.
In the live footage, Omran is seen wiping his face and looking down at the blood on his hand before a civil defense worker carries him into an ambulance.
The Aleppo Media Center, where Omran was treated, said he was in extreme shock, hence his eery stillness and silence throughout the footage.
After an hour of digging through the rubble, Omran was reportedly one of the first bombing victims pulled from the massive destruction.
Compared to the injuries sustained by many of the other victims, doctors say Omran was one of the lucky ones.
Thankfully, Omran has since been released from the hospital and is recovering, along with his family. His story is drawing cries for peace from people all over the world.

Apostolic or Apostasy? More Churches Include Cold Beer in Church Growth Strategy

It's not easy to plant a church. Even with a strong launch team, you still need a prime location—and that takes lots of money.
Apologia Church has come up with a disturbing way to raise funds for its church plant in Hawaii. Marcus Pittman, its leader, offered tattoos and a Bible conference complete with a beer flight, a sampling of beers much like a wine tasting, to pick up some cash.
"This is actually a fundraiser for our Apologia Kauai church plant, so people of the church are donating to have another member of the church tattoo them so they can go to Kauai and we can plant a church there," Pittman says in a YouTube video. "So, it's pretty cool."
As he sees it, the tattoos and beer flights are cooler than a bake sale. It seems many of his followers agree. The ReformCon conference invites people to talk theology over beer at a bar.
"This ticket allows you to get a beer flight from Boulders on Broadway. All the proceeds from this benefit our Kauai church plant!" the website for the event reads. "Boulders is all about the food, craft beer, bike riding, rock climbing and adventure! With 30 draft handles and 70-plus bottles of craft beer. Bring a friend and check out our selection."
The trend of mixing beer with the Bible is not new. I previously shared with you how Rev. John Donnelly of Christ Church Quaker Farms launched a group called Beer, Bible and Brotherhood. The first meeting drew 10 men who downed beer while contemplating Bible verses, the AP reports. He's hoping to build the group of suds-sipping seekers to 50.
Donnelly's club may be a sign of the times. There's a definite cultural shift in the body of Christ to open the bottles, er, the gates to alcoholic beverages. But that's not where it ends.
I also told you how 30 to 40 people flood Zio Carlo brewpub in Fort Worth, Texas, to nosh on pizzas, kick back pints of beer and fellowship. This so-called Church-in-a-Pub also has a worship service complete with Communion.
Irreverent? Sacrilegious? Even Christians who aren't teetotalers may have a problem with washing down their Holy Communion with beer their pastor brewed in his backyard. But it seems quite popular with the 20-somethings.
Then there's the church that organized "Beer and Hymns Sunday" to kick off a discussion about the future of the Christian church around the world. In speaking about this stunt, Evan Taylor, outreach pastor at East Side, says, "We like to rattle the cage a little bit."
Why is it so necessary for the church and the gospel to fit into modern-day culture? Modern-day culture should not dictate the messages we preach or the outreaches we arrange. The gospel of Jesus Christ is not obligated to meet the culture where it is—the culture is obligated to bow a knee to Jesus Christ.
Are beer-based outreaches really edifying in the end? If we compromise the purity and holiness of the Christian faith to win souls, are we really leading them into a true salvation after the bottle of beer is empty? Or are we merely compromising the gospel in the name of soul-winning without fruit that remains?
Are churches that frown on Christians drinking alcohol legalistic and majoring in the minor, or is the acceptance of alcohol a gateway to apostasy that will usher in sexual immorality and all manner of sin? Would you want to attend a church where the pastor downs a few brews with the boys in a bar over Bible study? Or does that send the wrong message?
Call me conservative, but isn't promoting brewsky on tap for the sake of being nonreligious to attract more people to your church a prime example of being of the world rather than just in the world? (See John 15:19.)
Whatever happened to separating the profane from the holy (Ezek. 22:26)?
Having church or doing evangelism is one thing, but basing your church-growth strategy on beer is quite another. Have evangelism and church-growth strategies really come down to compromising with the spirit of the world? God forbid!

WARS AND RUMORS OF WARS - When you hear of wars and disturbances, do not be terrified; for these things must take place first, but the end does not follow immediately. It is entirely likely that most of the billion Muslims world-wide will rise up in response to their false religion’s end-time leaders.

ISIS, CHAOS, AND LAWLESSNESS
Ferguson, Baltimore, a porous southern border of the USA, ISIS, the Iran nuclear deal, the Supreme Court decision on same sex marriage.
Our world and our country seem totally out of control. Do you realize all these things have happened within the last year??? What is the cause and where are we headed?
Let’s look at the dates of these events:
June 29, 2014      ISIS Caliphate formed
July 8, 2014         Israel/Hamas conflict
Nov. 20, 2014      Obama Executive Immigration Action
Nov. 25, 2014      Ferguson Riots begin
April 2, 2015        Initial Iran Nuclear Deal
April 18, 2015      Baltimore Riots
June, 2015           Supreme Court Decision on Same Sex Marriage
I know how my brain thinks, I want to blame a political party or individuals.  Our struggle is not against flesh and blood, however. It is against demonic powers.  This unprecedented amount of chaos is not random, it is the result of demonic activity.
As I look at the events, the rise of the ISIS Caliphate looms large. Is it a possible cause or trigger for all the rest of the chaos?  I haven’t seen anyone suggest this yet, but I am suggesting it now. What is the basis of my thinking?
Spiritual Reasons for Chaos
First let’s look at the issue spiritually:
I saw one of his heads as if it had been slain, and his fatal wound was healed. And the whole earth was amazed and followed after the beast. (Revelation 13: 3 NASB)
The beast that you saw was, and is not, and is about to come up out of the abyss. (Revelation 17:8 NASB)
Have we witnessed the Beast arise from the abyss?  Is a new demonic force present on the earth that was not present last year at this time?
We know that in its final form the Beast Empire will be a revived Ottoman Caliphate, however, ISIS may be a precursor and the demonic Beast may be loose on the earth.
Last autumn I wrote an article IS ISIS FULFILLING PROPHECY? And I took a wait and see approach to whether it was or not.  Just look at the results on the earth in the last 7 months since the article! Chaos is breaking out all over.
Fleshly Reasons for Chaos
Now let’s look at physical/fleshly reasons for the increase in chaos as well.  Muslims the world over have been waiting for a Caliphate. They may not all think Al-Bagdadi has a legitimate right to be Caliph, but they are emboldened by the presence of a Caliphate.
Each wannabe Caliph is scheming up a way to get to power as well. In a nutshell, the Muslim world and its supporters have been set on fire by what happened last June.
The forces of unrighteousness that are non-Muslim are taking advantage of the chaos in the Muslim world and the distraction it is causing.  The righteous can only put out so many fires.
The LGBT mafia and those seeking socialist upheaval has seized this opportunity.  We should not be surprised by this.
Where is All This Going?
Let’s look at what our Lord predicts:
When you hear of wars and disturbances, do not be terrified; for these things must take place first, but the end does not follow immediately. (Luke 21: 9 NASB)
The Beginning of the Birth Pangs period Jesus alludes to occurs DURING the first 3 1/2 years of the 70th Week of Daniel not before.
That time stamps the period Jesus is referring to.
In regard to what Jesus is referring to, let’s look at this word “disturbances.”  The Greek is AKATASTASIA which can mean chaos, anarchy, revolution, and upheavals in the political or moral spheres. This is where I think the current conditions are headed: towards fulfillment of Luke 21: 9.
If the current situation has resulted from the rise of ISIS imagine the upheaval when the Mahdi and Isa (the Muslim Jesus) burst onto the scene at the beginning of the 70th Week of Daniel. It is entirely likely that most of the billion Muslims world-wide will rise up in response to their false religion’s end-time leaders.
Might we then experience fighting and revolution in the streets throughout the world?  Is this why Jesus says, “do not be terrified” because all non-Christians will be terrified?
Is this also why Jesus says “Many false prophets will arise and will mislead many. Because lawlessness is increased, most people’s love will grow cold.” (Matthew 24: 11-12 NASB)
Notice how the rise of false prophets directly leads to lawlessness. Isn’t it logical that our love for one another might grow cold during such a time of world-wide strife and anarchy?
My take away from all of this is that the time is short.  The sun is going down.  Soon darkness will cover the earth.
Let us be about our Father’s business while there is time.  We are not to fear, but rather, being informed by our Lord (“see I have told you in advance”) let’s prepare.  Not to physically fight against the anarchy, but rather to overcome evil with good; with the love of Christ.
It is time to put on the full armor of God.  The evil day is almost here.

- GOD STILL SPEAKS TO HIS CHILDREN TODAY - God is a speaking God. The real task—and wonderful opportunity—is for us to learn to hear His voice. We need to know how to listen to Him and then respond accordingly.

Hearing God's Voice

by Robert Morris
An excerpt from Pastor Robert's new book Frequency.
Whenever I hear this phrase, “Pastor Robert, can I ask you something?” I have a good hunch what’s coming.
It’s because in more than thirty years of ministry I’ve heard the same great question posed time and time again. This question is fielded by people in my own congregation, by students in university classes I’ve taught, by people who seek my counsel when I’m the guest speaker at other churches, and by pastors and leaders at conferences.
The question is “How can I hear God?”
Sometimes the question is phrased slightly differently: “How can I learn to hear God’s voice more clearly?” or “How can I discern God’s voice?” or “How can I tell that God is speaking to me?”
But the heart behind the question is the same. People are not looking for burning bushes exactly. But just like Moses, they want to be available if and when God speaks to them. They want to connect with God on a deeper level and understand how to hear the voice of God.
I’m writing this book to help provide a fuller answer to this question. A fuller answer is needed because the explanation as to how to hear God’s voice can’t be given in a quick formula. Rather, it arises intrinsically as part of a genuine and ongoing relationship with God.
If you want to hear God’s voice, then you must get to know God as a person—and this takes time and intention, much the same as it takes to know any friend.
Rest assured, God has always been a speaking God, and God still speaks to us today.
Fifteen times in the New Testament alone, Jesus says, “He who has ears, let him hear.”
In John 8:47, Jesus says, “He who is of God hears God’s words.”
.
And in John 10:27, Jesus says, “My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me.”
Read those verses again if you need to. Note the key conversation words in each verse just mentioned: hear, God’s words, and voice.
Certain Christian leaders insist that God has stopped speaking today or that God speaks only through the pages of Scripture—and if you can’t name a book, chapter, and verse, then God has not spoken. Largely, they base this thinking on Revelation 22:18–19, where God warns people not to add anything to Scripture.
I strongly hold to the teaching of Revelation 22:18–19, the same way I hold to all the Bible’s teaching. God warns us not to add anything to Scripture, and I agree. We can’t add to Scripture. We must not add to Scripture. And yet Scripture indicates that God still speaks. So we must reconcile these two truths.
Perhaps the very terminology God speaks creates the tension in the first place. So we need to define what we’re talking about. There’s the work of God that we call inspiration—where God guided men to write Scripture, with the result the same as if God had written it.
And then there is the prompting of the Holy Spirit for conviction, guidance, assurance, and wisdom. Both of these works of God are classified under the overall umbrella of God speaks, but these works are not the same.
When the Holy Spirit led me to start Gateway Church where I’m senior pastor today, I very much heard God speak to my heart about the matter. Yet just because I heard God speak, that does not mean I could write down what the Holy Spirit impressed upon me and insist that I had another book of the Bible.
"If you want to hear God's voice, then you must get to know God as a person."
So there are two truths to reconcile:
(1) Scripture is finished. Yes.
(2) And the Holy Spirit still guides and prompts and convicts and leads. Yes. It’s this second concept that I refer to in this book when I say “God speaks.”
God speaks to us in our spirits. His Spirit bears witness with our spirit. God does not give us additional books of the Bible. He does not speak to us audibly. We don’t hear His voice the same way we would hear someone on the telephone.
Yet He still speaks.
GOD SPEAKS TO YOUR HEART
Years ago my former pastor, Olen Griffing, got in trouble from the leaders of his denomination because he believed and preached that God still speaks today. The leaders formed a credentialing committee, met, and questioned Pastor Olen for several hours about the matter.
Finally Pastor Olen addressed the committee chairman, a pastor, and said, “You’ve been asking me questions for three hours. Please let me ask you something now.”
The man nodded, and so Olen asked him, “Were you called to preach?” The man nodded again, and so Olen added, “Who called you to preach?”
The man cleared his throat and said, “Well, God did.”
Olen said, “Good, would you mind telling me which verse in the Bible contains your name and says that you were called to preach?”
The man put his head down and said nothing.
Pastor Olen summed it up: “God never says anything to our hearts that’s contrary to what is already revealed in the Bible. But in the same way he called you to preach, he continues to speak to people’s hearts everywhere. That’s how God still speaks today.”
Let me simply say that it’s never my intent in this book to create dissension within the Christian community. In fact, I’d say most of us are on the same page already. We sometimes just use different terminology like Olen did with his credentialing committee. The spirit of unity in the body of Christ is what I want to champion.
Both the Old and New Testaments clearly describe God as a speaking God. The real task—and wonderful opportunity—is for us to learn to hear His voice. That’s what I want to turn our attention toward because that’s my burden for all Christians everywhere.
We need to know that God still speaks to His children today, and we need to know how to listen to Him and then respond accordingly. I want every believer to have an intimate, ongoing, and passionate relationship with Jesus Christ so that we will all love and serve and follow His voice.
Friends, the good news is that we don’t need to go through life blindly. We don’t need to rely on our own understanding.
That truth that God still speaks today offers us hope and reassurance and confidence.
You can learn to hear God!
Would you want to have a deeper relationship with God?
God has made it possible for you to know Him and experience an amazing change in your own life by receiving His Son, Jesus Christ, and have eternal life.
Say the following prayer:

“Father God, I confess I am a sinner and my sins have separated me from You.
I am truly sorry. I now want to turn away from my past sinful life and live a new life pleasing to You.
Please forgive me, and help me avoid sinning again.
I believe that Your Son, Jesus Christ died for my sins, was resurrected from the dead, is alive, and hears my prayer.
I invite Jesus to become the Lord of my life, to rule and reign in my heart from this day forward. Thank You that according to your Word, I am now born again.
Please send Your Holy Spirit to help me obey You, and to do Your will for the rest of my life. I promise to study Your Word – the Bible.
Please use me for Your glory.
In Jesus' Name I pray. Amen.”

lyrics

1 I come to the garden alone,
   While the dew is still on the roses;
And the voice I hear, falling on my ear,
   The Son of God discloses.
Refrain:
And He walks with me, and He talks with me,
And He tells me I am His own,
And the joy we share as we tarry there,
   None other has ever known.
2 He speaks, and the sound of His voice
   Is so sweet the birds hush their singing;
And the melody that He gave to me
Within my heart is ringing. [Refrain]

3 I'd stay in the garden with Him
   Tho' the night around me be falling;
But He bids me go; thro' the voice of woe,
His voice to me is calling. [Refrain]
