Does it seem like the very opposite of your prophetic calling is happening right now, or that your faith is being tested through trial?

You are in good company. 

The heroes of Scripture underwent severe difficulties. The greatest trials often took place right before the breakthrough that would see them released into their God-given destiny.

We serve a faithful God and no person, and no circumstances can prevent His prophetic call upon our lives being fulfilled if we keep our hearts right before Him, stay in an attitude of obedience, and remain in a place of integrity and honour towards people.

And whenever we realise that we have departed from this position, the grace of God invites us to freely return. 

Signs Your Prophetic Destiny is Being Unleashed

1. You are Undergoing the Greatest Trial of Your Life

    David and his men returned to their homes and property in Ziklag, only to find that their homes had been burned, their property plundered, and their wives and families captured. To make matters worse, David’s men turned against him, blaming him for the tragedy.

David could easily have given up. However, he stayed on track, pressed into God and made tough leadership decisions. As a result, David and his men overcame the enemy, recovered their losses and won back their families. (1 Samuel 30)

The devastation of Ziklag prepared David for his move to Hebron—the very place where he would be crowned King of Judah and then of all Israel. (2 Samuel 2:1)

2. The Obvious Means of Fulfilling God’s Call Seems to have been Removed

Ezekiel was a young man with the call of God upon his life. Born to the priestly tribe of the Levites, his destiny was to serve in the temple from the age of 30. (Ezekiel 1:1, Numbers 4:3)

At the age of 23 he was taken captive from Jerusalem and relocated in Babylon. Ezekiel’s primary means of fulfilling God’s call on his life—ministry in the temple—was removed from him.

However, we read in Ezekiel 1:1 that in his 30^th year, in the place of captivity, the very time he would have started his priestly service in God’s temple, the heaven’s opened and his ministry as Prophet was launched. (Ezekiel 1:1)

3. A Person you Felt was Significant to God’s Purposes has been Lost to You

Uzziah, King of Judah spent most of his life serving God and his nation well—and the Prophet Isaiah diligently recorded the stories of his reign. (2 Chronicles 26:2)

Uzziah must have seemed like the hope of Judah—the King who set things to godly order and made the nation successful. And yet his life ended suddenly in a sinful act of pride.

This loss must have been devastating to Isaiah—and yet this was the year that God chose to reveal Himself and the glory of His Heavenly throne to Isaiah and to commission him to speak on God’s behalf. (Isaiah 6)

It is as though God was saying, ‘It is time to put your eyes on the Only One who can save Judah. I am your only security and all that you need. Now is the time to step up into your destiny as Prophet.’

4. There is a Huge Faith Challenge Standing Between you and the Promise of God

Caleb faithfully served God as a leader of his tribe through the 40 wilderness years of Israel. But on the eve of the fulfilment of God’s promise to him and his family, he faced his greatest challenge yet—to take Hebron from the Canaanites. (Joshua 14)

We learn that through Caleb’s leadership giants were expelled from the land. (Judges 1:19-20)

The fulfilment of God’s promise to Caleb was not going to happen without a battle—and the greatest test of his faith in and dependency upon God.

5. You have been Repositioned by God—and Suffered Loss as a Result

A young Moabitess called Ruth committed her life to follow and serve her mother-in-law, Naomi, after the death of her husband and father-in-law in Moab.

When Ruth entered Bethlehem she had not only lost her husband, she had left her family and culture behind and was known as a stranger. She had no means of living apart from relying upon charity. Everything of her former life was stripped away.

And yet in that very place, she was destined to marry Boaz, of the tribe of Judah, secure the inheritance of Naomi’s family, and become great-grandmother to King David—part of the lineage of Christ. (See the book of Ruth) 

6. You are Being Tempted to Promote Yourself Rather than Wait for God’s Timing and the Affirmation of Oversight

As Jesus was being launched into His season of ministry, the Holy Spirit compelled Him to go into the wilderness, to fast and face demonic temptation.

There in that place of severe want and hardship, Jesus was tempted to receive the kingdoms of the world without the cross, and without a life submitted to the Father’s will.

Emerging triumphant, His position of submission to the Father secure, Jesus left the wilderness ‘in the power of the Spirit’ to enter His public ministry. (Luke 4:1-14)

7. The Tyranny of the Ordinary: Nothing Seems to be Happening

For Elisha, the launching place of God’s purpose for his life was in the place of the ordinary. If he had any inkling of God’s call upon his life, then the trial for him was that nothing was happening. Nothing at all. A great big zero.

Elisha was living at home and serving in the family business. It was just another day in his life as an ordinary citizen, ploughing oxen, being faithful, when the Prophet Elijah came by and threw his mantle over Elisha’s shoulders. (1 Kings 19:19-21)

Success in God’s eyes comes from staying on track when the greatest challenges of your life occur. These things are the means Father uses to sharpen and prepare you for what lies ahead. And they may be the very launching pad God uses to propel you into your prophetic destiny.

Would you want to have a deeper relationship with God?

God has made it possible for you to know Him and experience an amazing change in your own life by receiving His Son, Jesus Christ, and have eternal life.

Say the following prayer: 

“Father God, I confess I am a sinner and my sins have separated me from You. 

I am truly sorry. I now want to turn away from my past sinful life and live a new life pleasing to You.

Please forgive me, and help me avoid sinning again.

I believe that Your Son, Jesus Christ died for my sins, was resurrected from the dead, is alive, and hears my prayer.

I invite Jesus to become the Lord of my life, to rule and reign in my heart from this day forward. Thank You that according to your Word, I am now born again.

Please send Your Holy Spirit to help me obey You, and to do Your will for the rest of my life. I promise to study Your Word – the Bible.

Please use me for Your glory.

HYMNS - A hymn is a song of praise. It addresses and celebrates God. Hymns are a valuable aid to worship because they help to focus our attention on the goodness and glory of the Lord.

What are hymns? What is the value of hymns in worship?"
A hymn is a song of praise. In ancient Greek culture, a hymnos was musical praise directed to the gods or heroes of the day. 

In Christianity, hymns are directed to the one true God, of course.

God’s people have sung hymns in honor of the Almighty since the time of Moses and before (Exodus 15:1).

David sang the “new song” God gave him and taught others to sing “a hymn of praise to our God” (Psalm 40:3).

Jesus and His disciples sang a hymn together at the Last Supper (Mark 14:26).

The early church sang hymns as part of their regular gatherings (1 Corinthians 14:26).

Paul and Silas, with their feet in stocks in a Philippian jail, were “praying and singing hymns to God” (Acts 16:25).

Technically, a hymn is a stanzaic, metrical poem meant to be sung. A traditional meter for hymns in English is 8.6.8.6., called common meter, which corresponds with ballad stanza.

The subject matter of a hymn is what distinguishes it from the “psalms” and “spiritual songs” mentioned in Ephesians 5:19.

- A psalm can be thought of as Scripture set to music—usually from the book of Psalms.

- A spiritual song can be any song with a spiritual theme, including songs of testimony and admonition.

- A hymn addresses and celebrates God and has the purpose of praise and adoration.

Ephesians 5:18-19 says there is a direct connection between being filled with the Spirit and singing: “Be filled with the Spirit, speaking to one another with psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit. Sing and make music from your heart to the Lord.”

A Spirit-filled Christian is a singing Christian.

Music is the natural overflow of a heart in fellowship with the Lord. The songs the church sings are not to be simply a musical exercise - they must be in the heart and not just in the mouth.

The hymns the Spirit prompts are a means by which believers edify, encourage, and teach each other (see also Colossians 3:16).

Hymns are a valuable aid to worship because they help to focus our attention on the goodness and glory of the Lord.

The hymn “How Great Thou Art,” for example, reminds us of God’s majesty revealed in creation, His perfect sacrifice on the cross, and His coming return for His own—all matters of praise.

The classic hymns of Martin Luther, Isaac Watts, Fanny Crosby, Charles Wesley, and many others have blessed millions of Christians through the centuries.

A HUGE build-up of magma is lurking beneath New Zealand which could one day explode causing widespread devastation comparable with a potential Yellowstone eruption, scientists have discovered.

Experts have revealed that enough magma to fill 80,000 Olympic-size swimming pools is sitting beneath a small town to the South-East of Auckland.

Molten lava beneath Matata – which has just 650 inhabitants – has been building up since the 1950s.

Dr Ian Hamling, from GNS Science and lead author of the study published in Science Advances, said the discovery “was quite a big surprise”.

In their study, they add that it is extremely unusual for magma to collect in an area where there is no volcano.

The eruption would be comparable with Yellowstone

The magma is at least six miles beneath the surface of coastal town Matata, leaving scientists confident that it will not erupt for hundreds and potentially thousands of years, but warned that it could be a “significant” eruption when it does finally blow.

Dr Hamling continued: "When you compare it to other places, like Yellowstone, we're smaller than that. But it's still pretty significant.”

If Yellowstone were to erupt, it could leave two-thirds of the USA immediately uninhabitable as the large spew of ash into the atmosphere would block out sunlight and directly affecting life beneath it.

While it is not expected that this magma will cause such devastation, the impact would still be difficult to cope with.

However, in the short run, Dr Hamling and his team hope to use the newly discovered magma deposit to help predict earthquakes.

By using GPS data and satellite images, the team were able to discover a 154 square mile patch of land which had risen by 16 inches since 1950 due to the presence of magma.

Furthermore, they believe that the build-up of magma could be responsible for a spate of small earthquakes between 2003 and 2011 as the amount of magma suddenly increased during this time.

NATO HAS CHOSEN RUSSIA AS ITS ENEMY INSTEAD OF ISIS - The biggest threat to Western Europe is Islamic fundamentalism and the fallout from a destabilized Middle East. But the US remains somewhat impervious to these issues, which it largely helped to ferment, and instead continues to be, bizarrely, focused on Russia.

According to statements made at last weekend’s summit in Warsaw, NATO regards Russia as a bigger threat than ISIS.

Of course, that’s ludicrous but when you scratch beneath the surface, the use of these falsehoods makes perverted sense.

Gleb is a Russian student in Dublin. Recently, at the request of a mutual friend, I’ve been helping him with his university thesis which focuses on the reasons Ireland is one of the few Western European countries that has resisted NATO membership. A distinction that most Irish people are extremely proud of.

As an Irishman myself, I’ve always been baffled by why so many members of the British and continental European elite see NATO as a good thing. After all, where’s the glory in being dictated to by an external power whose interests are often at marked variance with your own?

Like right this moment, when it’s plainly obvious the biggest threat to Western Europe is Islamic fundamentalism and the fallout from a destabilized Middle East. But the US remains somewhat impervious to these issues, which it largely helped to ferment, and instead continues to be, bizarrely, focused on Russia.

Now, I owe Gleb this mention for noticing something I missed after last week’s NATO summit in Warsaw. On Saturday afternoon, the club issued two important statements. The first was titled ‘The Warsaw declaration on Transatlantic Security’ and it outlined the core agreements reached in the Polish capital. Curiously, and this is really interesting, it mentions Russia four times but references ISIL only once.

The Real Deal

Yet, that was only the entree. Two hours later came the main course, the ‘Warsaw Summit Communiqué’ which contained 139 points, many of them rather lengthy.

In total, the agreed summary runs to an incredible length of around 16,000 words, or more than half the length of Ronald Dahl’s ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory,’ which I can assure you was a far more enjoyable read. In this document, ISIL is specified on twelve occasions but, by contrast, there are 58 instances of Russia being directly called out.

Thus, Gleb’s email was titled, “why has NATO chosen Russia as its enemy instead of ISIS/ISIL?”

And this is the gist of my reply.

The main reason is because there is very little profit in combating the, self-styled, Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS/ISIL). And NATO is primarily a money racket which provides a lot of influential people with a very comfortable lifestyle, flying around the globe on private jets and generating well-paid jobs, both directly and via the think-tank circuit.

Let’s be clear here. You don’t require submarines or nuclear weapons to engage ISIL, but you would in a putative conflict with Russia. The fact that such a collision would probably, due to the atomic arsenals involved, mean the end of human civilization, is irrelevant to NATO because it doesn’t actually want a war with Russia.

Instead it desires to use Moscow as a convenient bogeyman in order to maintain US defense spending, which grew 9 percent annually from 2000-2009 during the “war on terror.”

That massive increase in expenditure was justified by the need to remove, initially, Osama Bin Laden and, later, Saddam Hussein from the international stage. After both were eliminated, in reverse order, you’d have expected the splurge to be cancelled and for the largesse to be reduced to pre-9/11 levels.

Money, Money, Money

The problem was that too much depends on it. Defense now constitutes 54 percent of all federal discretionary spending in the US or around 17 percent of all Washington outgoings. This butters a lot of people’s bread and keeps a wide variety of industries alive.

At the same time, Russia will splash out roughly 19 percent of its state budget this year on defense. This is equally as wasteful and ridiculous as the American endowment. However, a major difference is that Russia is not trying to prescribe to the rest of Europe about whom or what it should regard as a threat.

The simple fact is that six of the top eight defense contractors in the world are American. Together, they directly employ close to 750,000 people and that’s in addition to millions of other service and supply roles that depend on their patronage.

Any reduction in munitions outlay would jeopardize a lot of those jobs, creating unemployment black spots in many US towns and cities. And those would be primarily in ‘blue collar’ areas which have already been hollowed out by decades of outsourcing, many of which happen to be situated in electoral swing states. Politician who’d advocate this would be self-immolating their career.

So let us be brutally frank here, bearing in mind that NATO is primarily a European organization. Right now, the biggest danger to European security originates in the Middle East. In the past year, over one million migrants have arrived in Germany alone. This has helped to create political and social instability across the continent. Very few of these, if any, were created by anything Russia did.

However, a great many of those newcomers came from countries which the US has helped to destroy, like Iraq and Libya. It’s also worth noting that ISIS has claimed direct responsibility for recent attacks in both Paris and Brussels. In other words, ISIS is killing people inside NATO territory, something Russia is not doing.

Despite this, NATO continues to be fixated on Russia. That’s because in order to maintain its gigantic military budget (which incidentally is larger than the entire nominal GDP of Poland), Washington needs a “big ticket” opponent and Russia currently fits the bill.

Fighting ISIS doesn’t require expensive hardware. Instead, it needs boots on the ground, which are politically costly but financially cheap. By contrast, squaring off against Moscow is like a comfort blanket. Familiar to the masses, very unlikely to lead to an actual war, but extremely lucrative.

This verse is often quoted, especially in discussions regarding the Christian pro-life position, but what does it mean?

First, these words are a clear statement about the amazing capabilities of the human body God has created. Our bodies are made of billions of cells and a myriad of parts that can only be adequately explained by a loving and wise Creator and Designer (Genesis 1:26-27).

Second, this verse gives an indication of our value from God's perspective. He designed us. Much care is involved in the creation of each human being.

As the verses immediately following Psalm 139:14 say, "My frame was not hidden from you, when I was being made in secret, intricately woven in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed substance; in your book were written, every one of them, the days that were formed for me, when as yet there was none of them." (Palm 139:15-16).

Third, this verse reveals the inestimable worth of all human life. A direct application of this verse is the protection of life at all levels, from the womb to

the final breath of a person's life.

This is why Christians care deeply about the protection of life in the womb (Psalm 139:13), caring for those mistreated or undervalued by others in society (Proverbs 3:8-9), and for the elderly and those with terminal illnesses.

As 1 John 4:19 shares, "We love because he first loved us."

Fourth, God's qualities of having all power (omnipotence) and all knowledge (omniscience) are revealed in this verse. God asked Job, "Who has put wisdom in the inward parts or given understanding to the mind?" (Job 38:36).

It's a rhetorical question; the answer is, of course, "God."

No one else can take the credit for creating every person. No one else knows each person at the most intimate level. The same God who created the universe (Genesis 1:1) also knows the number of hairs on our head (Matthew 10:30; Luke 12:7).

Finally, in this verse we find yet another reason to worship the Lord Almighty. He has created us in such wisdom, power, and love, and the only proper response is to honor Him and glorify His name.

As the Psalms note elsewhere, "There is none like you among the gods, O Lord, nor are there any works like yours. All the nations you have made shall come and worship before you, O Lord, and shall glorify your name. For you are great and do wondrous things; you alone are God" (Psalm 86:8-10).
