The rapture is the hope of hundreds of millions of Christians.

Unfortunately, according to Bible prophecy, most will be "left behind" weeping and gnashing their teeth (as Jesus portrayed it).

This can happen if we trust in what men have taught and not what Jesus actually said about belonging to him at his coming (1Corinthians 15:23).

Among Christians, the rapture is the most important event in Bible prophecy. The aspect of the rapture most discussed without a doubt is the question of when it will happen, either in absolute and relative terms.

Absolute timing would be all the date speculation and date setting constantly made (that constantly fails). Then there is the endless debate over its timing relative to the Great Tribulation. It would be an

understatement to say Christians do not agree on whether it will come before (“pretrib”), during (“mid-trib”) or after the tribulation (“post-trib” or “pre-wrath”). This debate will probably not die out until it actually happens.

But having that answer wrong is not a problem. Millions of saints (including Abraham, Moses, Elijah, David, etc.) have already secured their position in the Kingdom of God without ever knowing a single thing about the rapture—including the correct timing of it relative to the Great Tribulation.

The real problem with all this debate over the questions of when, is that it causes the truly important rapture issue to be overlooked: Who will be in the rapture and how do they qualify for it? Of course, Christians think that question is already settled. They think that by simply believing in Christ they are "rapture-ready."

In other words, the prevailing notion is that all believers will make it. But is this theory really

grounded in Scripture? My study of Bible prophecy over the last decade has convinced me otherwise.

I'm quite convinced that not all believers will be in the rapture.

Consider My Friend, Harold – Rapture Material?

Take my friend Harold, for example. He lives within walking distance of me so we see each other frequently and as a result, I know him well. He is a believer, however, few Christians would recognize him as such. He does not talk a lot about Jesus. If you asked him what church he goes to, he would answer, "None."

He does not keep Christmas or Easter, either. He has no pastor and therefore also does not tithe anywhere. He mostly is busy getting things done on Sundays since he sleeps in late with his wife on Saturday after a long hard work week at their jobs.

Based on this brief profile of him, would you expect to see Harold in the rapture? I bet most Christians would have their doubts. They would not be wrong in principle to wonder, but not for the reasons they think. For the Bible does teach that there will be believers left

behind for other reasons (as we shall see).

Weeping and Gnashing of Teeth By Left Behind Believers

There is an abundance of passages in the New Testament teaching that some believers in Jesus are going to have the supreme disappointment when Jesus comes back to rapture people into the Kingdom: 

“21 Not everyone who says to Me, 'Lord, Lord!' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of My Father in heaven. 22 On that day many will say to Me, 'Lord, Lord, didn't we prophesy in Your name, drive out demons in Your name, and do many miracles in Your name?' 23 Then I will announce to them, 'I never knew you! Depart from Me, you lawbreakers!'” Matthew 7:21-23 (HCSB)

People are described as calling Jesus their Lord and even busy doing works in his name. Yet they are still rejected by him. Although they clearly believe, they have some flaw that Jesus calls “lawbreaking” that makes them unacceptable to inherit the Kingdom of God.

Next let's look at the the Letter to the Church of Laodicea. Of course, the Church of Laodicea is not made up of unbelievers. It's made up of believers, like all seven of the churches of Revelation. Yet what do we find:

“15 I know your works, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish that you were cold or hot. 16 So, because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I am going to vomit you out of My mouth. ...you don't know that you are wretched, pitiful, poor, blind, and naked, 18 I advise you to buy from Me gold refined in the fire so that you may be rich, white clothes so that you may be dressed and your shameful nakedness not be exposed, and ointment to spread on your eyes so that you may see.” Revelation 3:15-18 (HCSB) 

The letter tells the lukewarm believers there that they are naked and need to buy “white clothes”: Their works have been examined and found to be flawed. Their central fault is called nakedness or a lack of white clothing. For this and other faults they are going to be vomited out of Jesus' mouth.

Obviously vomit will not be going up in the rapture (although it might be found going down from the dizzying heights).

We see the same cause for rejection from the kingdom in the Parable of the Wedding Banquet:

“But when the king came in to view the guests, he saw a man there who was not dressed for a wedding. 12 So he said to him, 'Friend, how did you get in herewithout wedding clothes?' The man was speechless. 13 “Then the king told the attendants, 'Tie him up hand and foot, and throw him into the outer darkness,

where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.'” Matthew 22:12 (HCSB) 

These wedding garments are clearly a key requirement for the rapture, but what are they meant to represent?

We will see that they are equivalent to the works related to the law that some believers are accused of breaking in the verse above.

He says, “I will instruct you and teach you the way you should go; I will counsel you with my eye upon you" (Psalm 32:8).

Ask God to show you what to do. Pray the following prayer:

“Heavenly Father,

I admit that I am a sinner and my sins have separated me from You. I now want to turn away from my past sinful life and begin a new life with You.

Please forgive me. I now receive your Son, Jesus Christ as my Savior, my Master and my Lord. I believe and confess that Jesus Christ died for my sins, was buried, and rose from the dead.

I want to receive all that Jesus Christ has provided for me as my Savior. Your Word says, ‘Whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved’ (Romans 10:13).

I believe and confess that Jesus Christ is the Way, the Truth, and the Life, and no man comes unto the Father, but by Him.

Lord Jesus, I pray and ask You, to come into my heart and be Lord of my life. I thank You that you have given me eternal life, and according to Your Word, I am born again.

Heavenly Father, thank You for the gift of the Holy Spirit that is in me now. I surrender my life to You. I promise to study Your Word - the Bible.

Use me for Your glory.

In Jesus Name. Amen.”

5 Ways to Cultivate a Discerning Spirit

Discernment is a vital gift in an age when false apostles, deceitful workers, demonic angels of light, false signs and wonders, false prophets, false teachers, false christs, false revivalists and other falsities are rising in the church.

Some believers have the gift of discerning of spirits but every believer can develop a discerning spirit.

Indeed, we need to hunger for discernment in this hour because signs and wonders will mark the next great move of God but the enemy will come in—as the Bible warns in 2 Corinthians 11:13-14, 2 Peter 2:1-3, Matthew 24:24 and other places—with deceptions and counterfeit anointings at the same time.

Even people who walk closely with God and hear His voice accurately can massively miss it. The Gibeonites tricked Joshua into making a covenant with them and he ended up having to go to war to defend them.

The Bible says he "did not ask counsel of the Lord" (Joshua 9:14). 

A young prophet didn't discern an old prophet lying to him and paid for it with his life (1 Kings 13:1-24).

Even Samuel, a prophet whose words never fell to the ground, missed it by relying on his natural eyes. He thought surely Eliab was God's choice to replace Saul (1 Sam. 16:6-13).

We need discernment in the spiritual realm but we also need discernment to navigate the many decisions in our life. We need to know what the will of the Lord is. 

Discernment is not a feeling. It's a knowing. If you have a feeling, don't act until the feeling is a knowing. Your emotions will betray your discernment. You need to see with your spirit and not your soul. So how do we get discernment? Here are five ways:

1. Ask for discernment. Like wisdom, discernment flows out of a fear of the Lord and you can ask for it. James 1:5 says, "If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without criticism, and it will be given to him." You could put "discernment" in that verse and it would still ring true.

Matthew 7:7-8 promises, "Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened."

And remember Solomon, who asked for "an understanding heart to judge Your people, that I may discern between good and bad" (1 Kings 3:9).

God wants you to have discernment. He wants you to be wise regarding the manifestation of spiritual gifts and decisions about your life. If you need discernment, ask for it. But don't just ask for it in the moment you need it. Ask for it regularly.

2. Seek godly counsel. Remember, our emotions can betray us. Seek counsel from those who are more experienced in life or more discerning than you. Personally, I always seek counsel from various perspectives when I face a problem or need to make an important decision. I hear the voice of the Lord in good counsel.

Proverbs 11:14 tells us, "Where there is no counsel, the people fall; But in the multitude of counselors there is safety." 

And Proverbs 15:22 says, "Without counsel, purposes are disappointed, but in the multitude of counselors they are established."

You can sharpen your own skills by listening to good counsel.

3. Stay in the Word. The Word of God gives us God's perspective on all matters of life. The book of Proverbs, in particular, is an excellent tool for strengthening your discernment. When we need discernment, we should pray and ask the Lord—then go to His Word. Judge your discernment against the Word of God.

Hebrews 4:12 tells us, "For the word of God is alive, and active, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, of joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intents of the heart."

And Romans 12:2 warns, "Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect."

If you know the Word—and you know the character of God by studying His Word—you will cultivate discernment. Anything that does not line up with God's Word does not come from God because the Spirit and the Word agree (1 John 5:8).

4. Exercise discernment. In a biblical warning of apostasy, Hebrews 5:11-14 says, "Concerning this we have much to say that is hard to explain, since you have become hard of hearing. For though by now you should be teachers, you need someone to teach you again the first principles of the oracles of God and have come to need milk rather than solid food. Everyone who lives on milk is unskilled in the word of righteousness, for he is a baby. But solid food belongs to those who are mature, for those who through practice have powers of discernment that are trained to distinguish good from evil."

We need to be open-minded but, as it's been said, we don't need to be so open-minded that our brains fall out. When you meet new people, use discernment. The Bible says to know people by their fruits (Matt. 7:16).

5. Don't go by what you see with your natural eyes. Remember, Joshua and Samuel both went by what they saw or heard. Paul, by contrast, didn't let what he saw or heard move him. When the damsel with the spirit of divination followed Paul and Silas around declaring, "These men are servants of the Most High God, who proclaim to us the way of salvation" (Acts 16:16), Paul waited to discern what was happening.

On the surface, she spoke facts. But the Bible says the girl did this for many days. Paul was greatly troubled in his spirit—he discerned something was wrong. Finally, he turned to the spirit and told it to come out in the name of Jesus.

Paul illustrated what John 7:24 admonishes us to do: "Do not judge according to appearance, but practice righteous judgment."

GOD IS IN CONTROL - We might like to think we are ruled by human governments, but where man rules, God overrules. God is always in charge. He controls our eternal security, just as if we were in the palm of His hand.

What five Bible quotes can remind us that God is in complete control at all times?

“He changes times and seasons; he removes kings and sets up kings; he gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to those who have understanding.” Daniel 2:21

I know that Solomon understood God’s omnipotence (all-powerful) because he wrote that God “looses the bonds of kings and binds a waistcloth on their hips” (Job 12:18).

And “he pours contempt on princes and loosens the belt of the strong” (Job 12:21). At His discretion and as He pleases, He is always and forever in control.

“Many are the plans in the mind of a man, but it is the purpose of the Lord that will stand.” Proverbs 19:21

Solomon asks the rhetorical question, “Who has spoken and it came to pass, unless the Lord has commanded it”, with the obvious answer being only God can speak a thing and make it come to pass. (Lamentations 3:37)

Even a word is not spoken that the Lord has not known before, as the psalmist explains, “Even before a word is on my tongue, behold, O LORD, you know it altogether” (Psalm 139:4).

“Remember the former things of old; for I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is none like me, declaring the end from the beginning and from ancient times things not yet done, saying, ‘My counsel shall stand, and I will accomplish all my purpose.” Isaiah 46:9-10

There is no one or nothing that could ever compare to God. He declares what the end will be even before it’s begun! Wow! Whatever man plans, God will accomplish His will and His purpose, for His “counsel shall stand,” and there’s nothing anyone can do about it.

“The king’s heart is a stream of water in the hand of the Lord; he turns it wherever he will.” Proverbs 21:1

In biblical times, kings held vast power with huge kingdoms and controlled enormous armies. But to God, the king’s heart is nothing more than “a stream of water” in His mighty hands.

So guess who’s really in charge (hint: it’s not the king!)? God will turn any king’s (or powerful ruler’s) heart effortless and to whatever direction He wills and for His purposes.

“I give them eternal life, and they will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all, and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father’s hand.” John 10:28-29

This might seem like a strange choice for a Bible quote that reminds us that God is always in charge, but Jesus is reassuring

His listeners (and readers today) that He controls their eternal security, just as if we were in the palm of His hand.

Not only that, we are secure in the Father’s hand, too. God’s never going to let us slip from His grace grip (John 6:37, 39).

Conclusion

Has it ever occurred to you that nothing has ever occurred to God? He has never had to learn anything because He knows everything. He is in total control.

We might like to think we are ruled by human governments, but where man rules, God overrules because “the Lord has established his throne in the heavens, and his kingdom rules over all” (Psalm 103:19).

And “God is in the heavens; he does all that he pleases” (Psalm 115:3).

The greatest reminder that God is in control takes us from today all the way to “I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live” (John 11:25).

Would you want to have a deeper relationship with God?

God has made it possible for you to know Him and experience an amazing change in your own life by receiving His Son, Jesus Christ, and have eternal life.

Say the following prayer:

“Father God, I confess I am a sinner and my sins have separated me from You.

I am truly sorry. I now want to turn away from my past sinful life and live a new life pleasing to You.

Please forgive me, and help me avoid sinning again.

I believe that Your Son, Jesus Christ died for my sins, was resurrected from the dead, is alive, and hears my prayer.

I invite Jesus to become the Lord of my life, to rule and reign in my heart from this day forward. Thank You that according to your Word, I am now born again.

Please send Your Holy Spirit to help me obey You, and to do Your will for the rest of my life.

IS 7-YEAR BIBLICAL 'TRIBULATION' ABOUT TO START?

Shemitah cycle could be key

Millions of investors concerned about the Shemitah cycle are watching stock markets and economies in these dark days of September.

Will the Dow crash, they wonder, like it did in the past two Shemitah years, 2001 and 2008, or will the dollar collapse and take the U.S. economy down with it?

Not Mark Biltz.

The founder and pastor of El Shaddai Ministries is watching for something much bigger.

The start of the Tribulation.

Biltz, author of “Blood Moons: Decoding the Imminent Heavenly Signs,” is not predicting that the Tribulation will start with the beginning of a new seven-year cycle at sundown on Sunday, Sept. 13. But if it doesn’t start, then he says it likely won’t for at least another seven years.

That’s because God operates according to seasons that follow the biblical Old Testament feast days, he said.

“The God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob is trying to get the attention of the entire world, and His people in particular, of the need to get on His calendar cycle.

One of the ways He does that is through signs in the heavens, including lunar and solar eclipses, which of course have to do with calendars. A total lunar eclipse or “blood moon” occurs on Sept. 28, which is the Feast of Tabernacles. It’s the last of four blood moons, all falling on Jewish feast days, over the past 18 months, a rare “tetrad” of lunar eclipses.

“The Muslims, Hindus, Chinese, Christians … all have created their own calendar system, but God is putting the world on notice that His is the one that really matters,” Biltz told Charisma magazine.

The religious leaders in Jesus’ day were rebuked for “not understanding the signs of the times,” Biltz said. “God is again using the signs in the heavens to get our attention that we need to get connected to the Shemitah cycle to properly understand prophecy.”

Biltz believes the prophet Daniel’s “70 weeks” prophecy was based on the Shemitah cycle.

The one remaining “week,” which is seven years according to Daniel’s prophecy, is that period Christians refer to as the Tribulation, and Biltz believes it will be a Shemitah week.

“Therefore the Tribulation week has to begin at the beginning of a Shemitah cycle. The seven-year Tribulation cannot begin just anywhere. It will not begin in just a random year on our pagan calendar,” Biltz said.

The Jewish new year, Rosh Hashanah, which starts at sundown Sunday, Sept. 13, begins a new seven-year cycle.

“If the Tribulation does not start this fall, then it cannot start for (at least) seven more years,” Biltz said. “May the Lord give us at least one more Shemitah week or seven more years for the body of believers worldwide to come into this understanding of participating in the feasts that they may be ready.”

The Shemitah was introduced to Moses at Mount Sinai as described in the Old Testament book of Deuteronomy. God prescribed an agricultural cycle that allowed the people work the land for six years, and then on the seventh year the land was to rest from all sowing and reaping, and all debts were to be forgiven at the end of the seventh year.

The Shemitah was meant to be a blessing as grain would be stored up during the six years, allowing for provisions during the year of rest. But if the Israelites turned away from God the Shemitah would manifest as judgment.
