What is it called again?
According to the Greeks, Tartarus
was populated by ferocious monsters and the worst of criminals.
In ancient Greek mythology,
Tartarus was a horrible pit of torment in the afterlife. It was lower than even
Hades, the place of the dead.
The Greek word Tartarus appears
only once in the entire New Testament.
Second Peter 2:4 says, “God did not spare angels when they sinned, but
sent them to
[Tartarus], putting
them in chains of darkness to be held for judgment.”
Most English versions translate tartarus as “hell” or “lowest hell.”
The word Tartarus can be defined as “the deepest abyss
of Hades.”
Another place in Scripture that mentions sinning angels is Genesis 6:1-4, where “the sons of God” took control of human women and their progeny.
Another place in Scripture that mentions sinning angels is Genesis 6:1-4, where “the sons of God” took control of human women and their progeny.
According to Jude 6:1-4, some angels “left their own habitation” in the
heavens.
For this crime, God cast them into
Tartarus where they are held “in pits of
gloom” (Amplified Bible) for a later judgment.
It seems that Tartarus was what
the demons feared in Luke 8:31"And they begged him (Jesus)not to
command them to depart into the abyss." (ESV)
Peter’s mention of Tartarus is in
the context of condemning false teachers.
Those who secretly introduce
heresy into the church will suffer a fate similar to that of the angels who
sinned—they will end up in Tartarus.
The Lord does not tolerate those
who lead His children astray.
Matthew 18:6 "but whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in me to
sin, [a] it would be better for him to have a great millstone
fastened around his neck and to be drowned in the depth of the sea." (ESV)

Are
you struggling with a big decision or wondering how your eternal future will
play out?
Why
not talk to the God of the universe and let Him work in your behalf?
He
says, “I will instruct you and teach you
the way you should go; I will counsel you with my eye upon you" (Psalm
32:8).
Ask
God to show you what to do. Pray the following prayer:
“Heavenly Father,
I admit that I am a sinner and my
sins have separated me from You. I now want to turn away from my past sinful
life and begin a new life with You.
Please forgive me. I now receive
your Son, Jesus Christ as my Savior, my Master and my Lord. I believe and
confess that Jesus Christ died for my sins, was buried, and rose from the dead.
I want to receive all that Jesus
Christ has provided for me as my Savior. Your Word says, ‘Whosoever shall call
on the name of the Lord shall be saved’ (Romans 10:13).
I believe and confess that Jesus
Christ is the Way, the Truth, and the Life, and no man comes unto the Father,
but by Him.
Lord Jesus, I pray and ask You, to
come into my heart and be Lord of my life. I thank You that you have given me
eternal life, and according to Your Word, I am born again.
Heavenly Father, thank You for the gift
of the Holy Spirit that is in me now. I surrender my life to You.
Use me for Your glory.
In Jesus Name. Amen.”

1 I was sinking
deep in sin, far from the peaceful shore,
Very deeply stained within, sinking to rise no more;
But the Master of the sea heard my despairing cry,
From the waters lifted me, now safe am I.
Very deeply stained within, sinking to rise no more;
But the Master of the sea heard my despairing cry,
From the waters lifted me, now safe am I.
Refrain:
Love lifted me! Love lifted me!
When nothing else could help,
Love lifted me.
Love lifted me! Love lifted me!
When nothing else could help,
Love lifted me.
Love lifted me! Love lifted me!
When nothing else could help,
Love lifted me.
Love lifted me! Love lifted me!
When nothing else could help,
Love lifted me.
2 All my heart to
Him I give, ever to Him I'll cling,
In his blessed presence live, ever his praises sing.
Love so mighty and so true merits my soul's best songs;
Faithful loving service, too, to Him belongs. [Refrain]

3 Souls in danger,
look above, Jesus completely saves;
He will lift you by His love out of the angry waves;
He's the master of the sea, billows His will obey;
He your Savior wants to be, be saved today. [Refrain]
