TEN REASONS TO BELIEVE IN THE TRINITY
Woodrow Kroll
1.
The Bible gives a definitive statement revealing the Trinity.
“And now the Sovereign Lord has sent me with His Spirit” (Isaiah
48:16).
2.
The worship of God is expressed in Trinitarian formulas.
“Holy, holy, holy is the Lord Almighty” (Isaiah
6:3).
3.
The names of God imply He exists in a Trinity of Persons.
“For your Maker is your husband - the Lord
Almighty is His name - the Holy One of Israel is your Redeemer, He is called
the God of all the earth” (Isaiah 54:5).
4.
Pronouns referring to God are in the plural.
“Let Us make man in Our image, in Our
likeness ...” (Genesis 1:26).
5.
The persons of the Trinity are distinguished from each other.
“I will proclaim the decree of the Lord: He
said to me, ‘You are my Son, today I have become your Father’” (Psalm
2:7).
6.
The Lord Jesus taught that God is a Trinity.
“When the Counselor comes, whom I will send
to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth who goes out from the Father, He
will testify about Me” (John 15:26).
7.
The baptism of Jesus reveals the Trinity.
“As soon as Jesus was baptized, He went up
out of the water. At that moment heaven was opened, and He saw the Spirit of
God descending like a dove and lighting on Him. And a voice from heaven said,
‘This is my Son, whom I love; with Him I am well pleased’” (Matthew 3:16-17).
8.
Each Person of the Trinity works individually as God.
“How much more, then, will the blood of
Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself unblemished to God,
cleanse our consciences from acts that lead to death, so that we may serve the
living God!” (Hebrews 9:13-14).
9. The New Testament Church acknowledge the
Trinity.
“Therefore go and make disciples of all
nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the
Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you” (Matthew 28:19).
10.
The New Testament church used Trinitarian formulas.
“May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and
the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all” (2
Corinthians 13:14).
