"Now then we are ambassadors for
Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ's stead, be
ye reconciled to God." (2 Corinthians 5:20)
Christ has made each of us His ambassadors here on earth.
He is no longer here in the flesh, and so now He expects us
to faithfully and effectively represent Him.
As His ambassadors or representatives, He has
given us two basic tasks to perform.
- First of
all, we are to spread the good news of salvation in such a way that unbelievers
will be drawn to the light and out of their darkness.
"To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to
light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness
of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me" (Acts 26:18).
To do this, an ambassador must live a life of
conformity to His life and teachings, adequately representing Him
"As he which hath called you is holy, so
be ye holy in all manner of conversation," (1 Peter
1:15).
"Study to
shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed,
rightly dividing the word of truth," applying our attention to His
directives (2 Timothy 2:15).
"All
Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for
reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God
may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works" (2 Timothy 3:16).
It has rightly been said that the only
two things which will last for eternity are people and the Word of God. These
things must occupy our attention if we are to be effective "ambassadors for Christ."
God never calls us to
do something for Him that He does not empower us to do if we are willing to do
the work and time. Take time to get to know God in an intimate way.
As your relationship
with Him grows, you move up in rank and are assigned harder missions. Your
purpose on earth is to shine God’s love to a lost, dying world.
Your mission, if you
should choose to accept it, is waiting for you!
Open your ears and
your heart to the Lord and be excited about your new future serving Him in
truth and spirit.
Let God change your
life.
God has made it
possible for you to know Him and experience an amazing change in your own life.
Serve Him.
Wait on Him.
And expect … for He is
able to do much much more than you can ask or imagine.
Settle that sin issue
...
“Father God, I confess I am a sinner and my sins have separated me
from You.
I am
truly sorry. I now want to turn
away from my past sinful life and live a new life pleasing to You.
Please
forgive me, and help me avoid sinning again.
I
believe that Your Son, Jesus Christ died for my sins, was resurrected from the
dead, is alive, and hears my prayer.
I invite
Jesus to become the Lord of my life, to rule and reign in my heart from this
day forward. Thank You that according to Your Word, I am now born again.
Please
send Your Holy Spirit to help me obey You, and to do Your will for the rest of
my life. I promise to study Your Word – the Bible.
Use me for Your glory.
In
Jesus' Name I pray. Amen.”
