The heavenly boomerang!
The gift that keeps on giving.
You can’t out give God.
Every good and perfect
gift comes down from the Father …
The heavenly boomerang?
There are two unifying themes throughout
Scripture:
· God is a gracious God
· God is overflowing in his graciousness toward
those who keep his grace in circulation
I call this the principle of The Heavenly Boomerang - that when God blesses us and we pass that blessing on to others,
then God’s blessings keep flowing back through us.
But once we try to hoard those blessings, keep
them for ourselves or use them as a get rich scheme, then the spigot starts
shutting off.
When the human world lay in ruin, God began the
plan of redemption with the father of faith, Abraham.
God laid down the
principle of The Heavenly Boomerang to Abraham in Genesis 12: “… I
will bless you, … and you will be a blessing, … and all peoples of the earth
will be blessed through you.”
Notice the three stages of flight for the
heavenly boomerang:
Stage One:

God blesses us
|
Stage Two:
|
We become a
blessing to others
|
Stage Three:
|
Greater
blessings to greater numbers occur “THROUGH” us
|
Then the pattern
starts over.
We become the conduits, the delivery mechanism of God’s blessings when we realize that we are blessed, not to hoard, keep, or acquire, but SHARE!
Isn’t it incredible
that one of the most difficult and important lessons of childhood, learning to
share, is the center issue in our life of blessing!
Notice how Paul emphasizes this same
principle in 2 Corinthians 9:8, 11: “And God is able to make all grace abound to
you, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will
abound in every good work. … You will be made rich in every way so that you can
be generous on every occasion…”
What’s
the point of The Heavenly Boomerang?
To keep throwing out
those blessings into the lives of others.
If we do, we’ll find
God keeps sending them our way because we’re busy doing what is closest to His
heart: blessing others with his grace!
