- JUST AS I AM - Just as I am, without one plea, But that Thy blood was shed for me, And that Thou bid’st me come to Thee, O Lamb of God, I come! I come!

Just As I Am

Written by: Charlotte Elliott,
Music written by: William B. Bradbury,

lyrics
Just as I am, without one plea,
But that Thy blood was shed for me,
And that Thou bid’st me come to Thee,

O Lamb of God, I come! I come!
Just as I am, and waiting not
To rid my soul of one dark blot;
To Thee whose blood can cleanse each spot,
O Lamb of God, I come, I come!
Just as I am, though tossed about
With many a conflict, many a doubt;

Fightings within, and fears without,
O Lamb of God, I come, I come!
Just as I am, poor, wretched, blind;
Sight, riches, healing of the mind;
Yes, all I need, in Thee to find,
O Lamb of God, I come, I come!
Just as I am, Thou wilt receive,
Wilt welcome, pardon, cleanse, relieve;
Because Thy promise I believe,

O Lamb of God, I come, I come!
Just as I am, Thy love unknown
Has broken every barrier down;

Now, to be Thine, yea, Thine alone,
O Lamb of God, I come, I come!

Billy Graham's "Just As I Am" (By Artist Jeffrey Jiles)

In November 1934, Mordecai Hamm was preaching in a revival in Charlotte, North Carolina. After 3 weeks Hamm left town, discouraged because he'd only had one convert ~ a 12 year-old boy called BILLY GRAHAM!!!!
One Sunday school teacher started it all. One brother, Andrew, led another brother called Peter to Christ (John 1:39-42); and Peter brought MULTITUDES!!!!
Charlotte Elliott in 1835, wrote this song about how to find salvation through Christ.
Jeffrey Jiles has been playing the piano since he was 3 years old. He plays the same piano-style as Floyd Cramer. Evangelist Billy Graham said he was saved in 1934 in a revival meeting in Charlotte, North Carolina, led by Mordecai Ham, after hearing Just As I Am. This became an altar call song in the Billy Graham Crusades in the latter half of the 20th Century. Graham also used it in the title of his 1997 book, Just As I Am: The Autobiography of Billy Graham.

The song is based on an experience rather than a specific scripture. It was written by Charlotte Elliott, an artist, singer and composer who was stricken by an illness and became an invalid in her thirties. Devastated by her illness, she gave up all creativity until, one day, she was visited by an evangelist named Caesar Milan who told her that she must come to God right now, just as she was. To express the joy of her coming to God, she wrote "Just As I Am".
